Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope in New Port Richey to Hold Bi-Weekly Breast Cancer Support Group Meeting
New Port Richey, Florida – The Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope has announced that its New Port Richey center will host its regular breast cancer support group meeting on Thursday, August 19 at 6 PM. The group meets every other Thursday. The meeting will be held in the New Port Richey center at 8763 River Crossing Boulevard, New Port Richey, Florida. There will be an open discussion with the group on topics of interest. Anyone who has been touched by breast cancer is invited to attend, not just Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope patients. The meeting is open to all breast cancer survivors. Light refreshments will be served. Call 727-842-8411 ext. 150 for information.

The support groups at Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope’s New Port Richey center are conducted by a licensed clinical social worker. The biweekly sessions cover a variety of topics such as the use of makeup, pain control, body image, and how to communicate with others about their condition. Participants will be provided with useful educational material about cancer and cancer treatment. Survivors will be given the opportunity to raise concerns about their condition and learn what others are feeling and what they experienced. Best of all they will learn about the joy of new friendships and learn that they are not alone.

Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope to Host Look Good Feel Better Program
Zephyrhills, Florida – Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope has announced that they will host the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good…Feel Better” program once a month in its Zephyrhills center. The program is held periodically on the first Monday each from 4 PM to 6 PM. The next meeting will be held on Monday, September 13. The meeting will be held at the Zephyrhills center at 38010 Medical Center Avenue, Zephyrhills, Florida. This is a free group program that teaches beauty techniques to women cancer patients to help combat the appearance related side effects of treatment. “Look Good…Feel Better” is free and open to all women cancer patients in active treatment, not just Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope patients.

New Port Richey, Florida – Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope has announced that they are now hosting the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good…Feel Better” program once a month in their conference room. The next scheduled program will be held on Monday, September 13 from 2 – 4 PM at the New Port Richey center located at 8763 River Crossing Boulevard, New Port Richey, Florida 34655. “Look Good…Feel Better” is a free group program that teaches beauty techniques to women cancer patients to help them combat the appearance related side effects of treatment. “Look Good…Feel Better” is free and open to all women patients in active treatment, not just Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope patients. The bi-weekly sessions cover a wide range of topics and are conducted by a licensed clinical social worker. Participants are provided with useful educational material about cancer and cancer treatment. Survivors and family members will be given the opportunity to raise concerns about their condition and learn what others are feeling and what they experience. Best of all, they will learn about the joy of new friendship and learn that they are not alone.

Spring Hill, Florida – The Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope will hold its Look Good Feel Better Support Group on Wednesday, August 18 at 3:30 PM. The Group meets the third Wednesday of every month from 3:30 PM to 5 PM at the Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope’s Spring Hill Center located at 10441 Quality Drive, Suite 203 in the Medical Arts Building next to Spring Hill Hospital.

Florida Cancer Institute – New Hope and Spring Hill MRI to Sponsor “Row for a Cure”
Benefit for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Brooksville and Spring Hill, Florida – Florida Cancer Institute – New Hope and Spring Hill MRI is sponsoring a “Row for a Cure” to benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Row for a Cure will be held at Weeki Wachee Springs, 6131 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee on Saturday, August 7. Registrations are at Weeki Wachee from 8 am to 9 am and launch is 9 am sharp. The cost to participate is $35 per person or $55 per couple. This includes canoe/kayak rental, lunch and party with a DJ. Discounted rate is available if you have your own canoe or kayak.

The row, which begins at Weeki Wachee, will conclude with a party at Eagles Club, 8263 Cortez Boulevard, Weeki Wachee, Florida 34613. There will be door prizes and 50/50 drawing.

New Port Richey, Florida – Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope has announced that it will host the “Man to Man” prostate cancer support group on Thursday, August 19, from 5 PM to 6 PM at its new state-of-the-art New Port Richey center at 8763 River Crossing Boulevard, New Port Richey, Florida. Co-sponsored by the American Cancer Society, “Man to Man” sessions discuss: the importance of early detection of prostate cancer, signs and symptoms of the disease, prognosis, disease stages, incontinence, impotence, the various treatment options including hormone therapy and medications, and especially the latest research and treatment modalities. Speakers include physicians, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers and others.
