Richard R. Caradonna, M.D., is Board Certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. He graduated from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts, and received his medical degree from St. Louis Medical College in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Caradonna then completed an internship at St. Louis University Hospital followed by a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Medical Oncology at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He has held faculty positions at the Albany Medical College and Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine. In addition, he has served as principal investigator for clinical research projects, authored articles in the field of oncology, and has been actively involved in the treatment of cancer patients for over26 years.
Hospital affiliations include Oak Hill Hospital, where he serves as Chairman of the Cancer Committee, Brooksville Regional Hospital, Spring Hill Regional Hospital, Regional Medical Center - Bayonet Point, Community Hospital of New Port Richey and North Bay Hospital.
Throughout his medical career Dr. Caradonna's primary concern has been for his patient's care. He is committed to providing state-of-the-art medical oncology through continued research and use of the latest and most effective chemotherapy treatment programs. He believes that referring physicians are an integral part of providing effective, quality patient care. Keeping referring physicians informed about their patients' care is a key priority. After initial evaluation, the referring physician receives a thorough report and a description of the treatment plan and is updated at regular intervals.
Dr. Caradonna is past president of the Hernando County Medical Society and continues to be actively involved.
He lives in Spring Hill with his wife. Their daughter, Stephanie, is a physician in Sarasota.
