Mary Manlei Li, M.D., Ph.D. is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine. Dr. Li received her medical degree from Tianjin Medical University , School of Medicine , Tianjin , China . She received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Louisville , Department of Pharmacology and Anesthesiology in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Li completed her Internal Medicine residency and Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky, where she also received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology. She holds staff privileges at Community Hospital of New Port Richey, Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point, Brooksville Regional Hospital , Oak Hill Hospital , and Spring Hill Regional Hospital . Dr. Li is a Community Affiliate Physician at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
In addition to having been Chief Fellow during her final year of fellowship training, Dr. Li received numerous honors and awards during her residency. She was voted “Friendliest Resident” by the Visiting Nurses Association and patients, and several “Letters of Note” were included in her permanent file by the Program Director of Internal Medicine.
While in medical school, Dr. Li was awarded Outstanding Teaching Assistant by the Department of Medicine, Tianjin Medical University, and graduated in the top 3% of her medical school class. She also scored in the top 1% on her Graduate Record Exam.
Patient Care Philosophy: Dr. Li believes the most effective medical care is derived by combining medical knowledge with compassion and empathy for the patient. She believes the practice of medicine should not merely focus on the medical condition, but on the patient as a whole. She is committed to “putting herself in the patient’s shoes.”
Personal life, interests, and hobbies: Dr. Li is married and enjoys spending time with her son. She likes most sports and has a keen interest in SCUBA diving, cycling, swimming, boating, ballroom dancing and classical music.
